This wool shawl
\ngray and gauze-thin
\nsoftly wraps out morning.
\nShaken against the light
\nit proves
\ntime-eaten,
\na fading constellation
\nof pin holes
\nand areas
\nworn clear through.<\/p>\n
Almost invisible
\neach darn
\nover-under
\na child\u2019s potholder
\nin miniature,
\ndense to the touch, rough,
\na blip on the map.<\/p>\n
If I had fine wool thread\u2014
\nbut this silk is enough.<\/p>\n
Already I can tell
\nthe whole
